Who's behind the Cutest Wairarapa Church?

Wairarapa Church, Burnside, has got to be one of the cutest! Here's a little about Lisa Portas who helps look after it.

WHY DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH WEDDINGS? Burnside Church down in the South Wairarapa is looked after by a Committee of volunteers, made up of local families in Pirinoa. 5 years ago I was approached by the Committee to join them, with the task of getting Burnside Church onto Facebook and into the technological age.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT WHAT YOU DO?

 I love meeting with the Brides-to-be and their families. So much of our correspondence is done via email and telephone calls, and I find it really satisfying seeing our Brides down at the Church, knowing that it's all going to come together for that special day- and a close second is the photos sent through afterwards- gorgeous!

DESCRIBE THE MOST UNUSUAL JOB YOU’VE EVER HAD? Well I'm the Mum of two boys, aged 4 and 1 and a half- and some of the things I find myself doing on a daily basis can be pretty unusual, lets just say I'm quite the sandpit digger driver these days...

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE QUOTE? If it's meant to be, it's meant to be.

WHAT DO YOU WISH EVERY COUPLE WOULD ALREADY KNOW? That the day is about you, first and foremost. Do what's right for you, on your day, everyone else will just be happy to see you happy.

IF YOU COULD HAVE BRUNCH WITH ANYONE DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO WOULD IT BE? Good question! Would have to be my Great Nana who is in her 90's in the UK, she's got a cracker personality and I know we'd have a giggle.

IF YOU WERE GOING TO GET MARRIED OR MARRY AGAIN, NAME THREE THINGS YOU’D HAVE OR DO AT YOUR WEDDING I loved our wedding day, but if we ever got to do it again I think I'd go for: A wedding on the smaller side, definitely a band and I'd give writing our own vows from scratch a go.
