Creative husband and wife team Jason and Aneta, AKA We Do Photography, are absolute pros when it comes to capturing the beauty, joy and love of a wedding day (and you have to check out their Kombibooth too. A vintage 1973 VW Kombi, converted into a mobile photobooth? What more could you want!)

Ready to be plunged into summer? This incredible Castlepoint wedding captured by this amazing duo is chocka-full of summery goodness - blue skies, ocean views, surfing, hot sun and ice-cold drinks.

It seems like an appropriate time of year to have a quick chat about our top tips for a wedding under New Zealand’s relentless summer sun! Renowned for it’s quick-to-burn heat, our Kiwi summer is just around the corner - and if you’re getting ready for December-February wedding, take note of the following:

  • You’ll want to stock up on some large containers of sunblock! Especially since your guests will be standing under the sun for most of the day. We’d recommend grabbing a bunch and having them scattered around the venue for people to help themselves (and pop a couple in the bathrooms too.

  • Tell your guests to dress appropriately - light layers and a hat are a good idea. You don’t want them to overheat, nor get burnt to a crisp! If you’re going for a beach wedding, let them know that sandals are the best option.

  • Ice-cold beverages for the kids and adults alike - stay hydrated! Especially as a bride, it’s easy to forget to drink (or swap out water for champagne) but good old H20 will keep you feeling good all day long. Better yet, go for ice-blocks!

  • Make the most of the blue skies! We just love how We Do Photography have captured the real summer feel of the day - don’t be scared of that full sun when it comes to your photos!
