Beauty Tips! In between the hours spent planning, organising and your usual day-to-day stresses, it can be so easy to forget to take care of yourself, your body and skin in the lead-up to your wedding day! However, it only takes a few changes in your routine to make sure your skin is looking picture perfect - and, not to mention, it makes a good excuse to take a bit of time to relax, and treat yourself!
Latasha Boyce, from Alluminus Beauty Therapy, graciously shared with us a few tips, tricks and recommendations to help prepare for your wedding day. Nestled in the heart of Greytown, Alluminus cater to all pre-wedding needs, and offer a huge range of pre-bridal treatments, from eyelash tinting and extensions, eyebrow shaping and tinting, manicures, pedicures, tanning, facials, and even more advanced skin care treatments, all to help you look your absolute best on your wedding day, and to aid in perfect makeup application!
Preparing your skin for your wedding is all dependant on what your skin is like to begin with. “Some people have no major skin problems, and are happy with their skin,” says Latasha. “For this person, just a basic facial to exfoliate and brighten their complexion can be enough. This should be done three weeks before the wedding”
PREPARING YOUR SKIN AT HOME
A weekly skin care routine is key! “To prepare your skin at home, be sure to exfoliate and use a mask weekly. This will help regenerate your skin’s glow by sloughing off the dead skin cells. Make sure you have a good hydrator that is suited to your skin type.”
ADVANCED SKIN CARE
Perhaps you have particularly troublesome breakouts, pigmentation issues or medical skin issues? Latasha recommends looking into treatment plans, which need to start more than a month out from the wedding date. “This is where our advanced machines come into it - at Alluminus Beauty Therapy, we have machines for LED light therapy, Infusion Viora, Microdermabrasion, Derma Pen, Enzyme Peels. An in-depth skin consultation is also recommended, and we can do so with our Observe Skin Diagnostic Device (which is free for the first consultation!). Epi Dermal Planning can also be done in the month leading up to your wedding, and again will aid in the application of make-up.”
BOOK IN FOR YOUR TRIAL (AND WEDDING DATE)
Engaged, and have a wedding date in mind? Alluminus can be booked well in advance, and it’s best to book early to lock in your date. And make sure to book in for your trial early on, rather than leaving in til the last minute!
KEEPING YOUR LOOK FRESH ON THE DAY
“If you have prepared your skin by way of exfoliating beforehand, either at home or with professional treatments, then this will help tremendously,” says Latasha - not to mention, “Primer, primer, primer, and layers, plus professionally branded photo ready makeup! These are key to keeping your look long-lasting. We stand firmly beside Quoi Mineral Makeup.”
It’s also a great idea to consider purchasing your lipstick, and a mineral pressed powder and brush, to keep with you on the day. “Best times to re-apply are just before you get to the ceremony (as long as the car you’re arriving in has stopped moving!), before photos, before entering the reception, and after your meal.”
LOVE YOUR MAKEUP
Your makeup choices on the day are completely down to personal preference, but it is definitely worth asking your makeup artist for advice, recommendations and help - they are truly experts, and will help to make sure you look your best! “It’s key to make sure no matter how much makeup you like to wear, that you look like you. I love natural, flawless-looking makeup that can be detailed, and highlight your best featured. Our eyes are the windows to our souls, so creating a pop around them is vital”.
Also, look at eyelash treatments for the day. “I highly recommend tinting the lashes and lash extensions for your day. This way you’ll have no fear of running mascara!”
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST: DON’T STRESS
“Always remember that what will be, will be, and what may seem like a disaster to you behind the scenes will probably go unnoticed by your guests! Don’t stress about the small stuff.” The team at Alluminus help make your day less stressful, too! “We can come to you on your wedding day, coordinate with hairdresser’s timings (hair should always be done first, in my opinion), plan the order of who goes first to make sure there is time for lunch and enjoyment of the day - and overall, communication is key in every aspect of planning a wedding”.
