The trend that is sweeping across every aspect of life - minimalism.
All about keeping things simple, functional and clean, the minimalist shift spurred on by the likes of Marie Kondo is changing the world of interior design, fashion, and - you guessed it - weddings too. The mantra? Less is more. So today, we’re breaking down the key elements of the perfect minimalistic wedding. It’s up to you whether you go full bare-bones minimal, or just simplify the decor. It’s all about making your planning easier!

Colour palette
When choosing a minimalistic colour palette, limit it to 2-3 tones. We are in love with a neutral colour palette of greenery, neutrals like light brown and grey, and pops of colour - but again, less is more. Too much colour will dramatically change the simple look of the wedding. Just think - monochromatic, with delicate elements of colour.
Tie these colours in throughout the day, from the florals, to the table settings, to the bridesmaids dresses, to create consistency and flow.
Key textures
Still keeping it neutral - opt for natural textures like wood, linen or twine, or if you’re going for a more urban look, bringing grey tones through in concrete will tie the colour palette together perfectly. Let the textures speak for themselves - no need to clutter them with busy patterns or decor.

Flowers
Think beautiful, simple botanicals, rather than traditional grand, colourful floral pieces. Stick with beautiful white blooms (like these dreamy florals by Love Stomp Floral Design!) using the sage green to tie it all together. How chic does it look against their monochromatic outfits?
Bringing in simple, single stems for table centrepieces or place settings is also super-classy!

Simple, simple, simple. Nothing is classier than a perfect white cake. Tie in your botanicals with small additions to the cake, or work it with a simplistic cake topper.

Industrial elements
Angular “archway” for the ceremony? Ladder for the seating plan? Metal in the table settings? Pairing these rough elements with soft, feminine and classic wedding decor makes for the perfect combination. Head to the urban jungle for your photos - they can make a fascinating backdrop for the same reason!

Want to go full minimalist with the dress? Ditch the veil, pare back the jewellery to some dainty, elegant pieces, and choose a dress that’s a little less lace and sparkle.
Drinks
Have a couple of specialty cocktails - and keep it classic. An old fashioned will always go down a treat - they scream elegance! Culling the menu down will make it easier for your guests to choose too.
